In the case of candidates under 21 years of age, and of candidates over 21 years of age not in receipt of earnings which render them self-supporting, the residence of the parents or guardians is taken as being the residence of the candidates. If a scholarship-holder moves outside the County after he has taken up the scholarship the tenure of the award will not be affected in anyway, provided attendance at a school approved by the Council is maintained. Award of the scholarships and exhibitions is by examination in the case of junior county, probationer, intermediate county, domestic economy training, girls' trade, cookery and certain of the trade scholarships for boys; by selection (upon merit of work submitted or considerations as to the past career and qualifications of the candidates), sometimes accompanied by test examination, in the case of Benior county, art scholarships and exhibitions, evening exhibitions in science and technology, midwifery, scholarships for the blind, deaf and cripple, practical gardening, mercantile marine, school of art wood-carving and certain bursaries and free places for apprentices, teachers, etc.;and by nomination in the case of the domestic economy scholarships.
